On 30th January, 2010, special guests, principals, teachers
and students along with PTA members of both MPS and MSS gathered together
at the Basketball Court to participate in the event of Site Hoarding Decoration
for Construction of Hong Kong West Drainage Tunnel.
An 11-km drainage tunnel from Tai Hang to Cyberport is in construction as proposed by the Drainage Services Department to alleviate the flooding problem in northern Hong Kong island. An intake will be built at Blue Pool Road near Marymount Secondary School. To arouse the students’ environmental awareness, MPS, MSS, the Drainage Service Department and the Contractor, Dragages Nishimatsu Joint Venture have designed and painted the hoardings of the site. The theme of the project is “Save the Earth, Save the Environment”. That morning, students enjoyed a great time in painting and decorating the boards which were designed by a group of Secondary 2 students. Not only did the students enhance their skills in Visual Arts, it also helped students raise the awareness to their environment and their contributions to the community. Everyone shared a fun and meaningful morning, and were extremely pleased with their work! |
